I decided to write again about CD Projekt. The reason for it was the interest of the readers of this blog in investing in this company.

The company is a Polish video game developer so it makes investing in the company more difficult. Not every brokerage account allows you to buy Polish shares.

My portfolio for 2018

Welcome in the year 2018. The year 2017 was very good in the financial markets. The developed markets were growing steadily with S&P500, Nasdaq and British FTSE100 growing respectively +19.96%, +28.86% and +8.55%.

The emerging markets outpaced the developed markets with Argentinian Marvel raising +77.62%, Turkish XU100 +47.60%, Indian Sensex +27.91% and Polish WIG20 +26.35%. Results of those markets are even better if we refer them to one currency – for example Polish PLN gained +16.84% to the US Dollar in the year 2017.

2018 forecast for stock markets, commodities and currencies

As many institutions are playing to be a forecaster, I also have decided to give it a try. I will have a look at currencies, stock markets and commodities prices in 2018.

 

Currencies and cryptocurrencies

In my opinion US dollar plummeted too much in the last year. Raising interest rates and possible repatriation of money by American companies, caused by lowered tax rate, will strength the dollar. Also British Pound will finally grow slightly. The currency which I underweight is Euro.

Time flies quickly. I remember publishing a post about the results of 3.5 years of investing and now we have another half a year in my investing history. Let’s have a look at those 4 years. My real wallet on the Warsaw Stock Exchange gained +120.57%, which gives +21.87% annually.

The first year 05.2013-04.2014 ended up with a result +22.39%

The second year 05.2014-04.2015 ended up with a result +19.49%

The third year 05.2015-04.2016 ended up with a result +12.29%

The fourth year 05.2016-04.2017 ended up with a result +34.90%

Many employers offer a contribution to your retirement plan. In the US it is called a work sponsored 401(k), in the UK it is a personal pension plan – PPP.

How does it work and why use it?

  • tax relief – money goes to your personal pension plan or 401(k) account before you pay tax from them,

  • your employer’s contribution – extra money you receive from your employer to your retirement plan if you decide to save your money for retirement.

+79.30% – great results of the 1st year of my mutual funds’ wallet

A year ago I opened my ISA account with AXA. Since that, I have been investing in the global stock markets and commodity funds. The results are much better than I expected.

The chart above shows the performance of my investments vs benchmarks – FTSE100, FTSE 250 and SP500. My wallet performance was +79.30%. FTSE100 gained +21.87%, FTSE250 gained +3.68%, and SP500 went up 22.39%.
